Policies

Rental Policies

Age Requirement Policy

25 years of age, no exceptions. Anyone driving must be 25 regardless if they are the primary driver or the secondary, additional driver.

Insurance Policy

All renters must carry full coverage (comprehensive, collision and liability) insurance on their current car insurance policy, at the time of the rental, to rent from us. Liability limits must be at a minimum of 100000 / 300000 / 100000 to qualify. Your policy must be active with the same insurance company for a period of 3 months or more to qualify. We do not accept rental customers who have a high risk insurance rating (SR Rating). We do not accept insurance policies underwritten by Safe Auto, Eagle, Accurate, United Auto, Safeway, Unique, as well as several others. If you hold an insurance policy that is not well known, please call us and we can tell you if we accept it. We do not sell any type of insurance coverage for any of our rental vehicles.

Payment/Damage Deposit Policy

A Damage Deposit must be placed prior to every rental, the amount will vary depending on the car but $2500 is the minimum. The following credit cards (including debit cards) are accepted for deposit: VISA, Master Card, Discover and American Express. A damage deposit is an authorization against your credit cardís credit limit. It effectively removes that amount of credit from your credit line during your rental period. This authorization does not show up on your credit card statement as a charge, rather, it is just a hold. At least 50% of the damage deposit must be placed onto a credit card. There are no exceptions. You can use more than one credit card. Any credit card that is used MUST be valid and in the renterís name.

Cancellation Policy

There is a $200.00 cancellation fee if the reservation is canceled between 10-14 days of the start of the rental. A 50% charge from the total rental price will apply if you cancel between 7-10 days. A 100% charge of the total rental price will be charged if the rental is canceled within 0-7 days of the rental start time.

Additional Drivers Policy

You may add ONE person to a rental for a fee of $ 75.00. Additional driver must be present at the time of the rental and must meet all of the qualifications as the primary renter.

Rental Day Requirements

On you place a deposit and make a reservation with us, a reservation confirmation will be emailed out to you. It will confirm your vehicle, rental date, times and costs. It will not contain any personal information. On the day of your rental, you will have to have 3 items on your possession:

1) Your valid driverís license.
2) Your proof of insurance card.
3) The credit card(s) you used to make the payment(s) with.

If you do not have these 3 items with you at the time of the rental, WE WILL BE UNABLE TO RENT THE VEHICLE TO YOU due to insurance requirements. A moving violation ticket stubs will not be accepted as a driverís license. All renters must be present at the time of the rental. We require that all first time renters to go through a short 10-15 minute orientation on the vehicle that they will be renting. This is done so that you will be familiar on how to operate the car in a safe and efficient manner.

Rates

All rates are subject to change without notice. Special Offers may expire at any time. We reserve the right to refuse/postpone rental due to severe weather, snow, past driving record or any other reason that may jeopardize your safety as well as that of the vehicle.

Your Driving Record

  • To qualify to rent from us, you cannot have been cited for any of the following within the last 3 years:
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving under the influence of a controlled substance (DWI or DUI)
  • Leaving the scene of an accident
  • Operating a vehicle without insurance
  • Possession of a stolen vehicle.

When you make a reservation with us, you authorize Status Ride to run a MVR report (Motor Vehicle Report) with the state to gather this information.

Delivery / Pick-up

Vehicle delivery and pick-up is available to and from your door or any area airport. Fees are as follows, each way:

If you choose to pick up your rental vehicle from our office, we offer free indoor parking for your own car for the duration of your rental.

Please note: All pick-up & delivery arrangements must be confirmed at least 24 hours in advance in order to guarantee on-time service. Any changes to pick-up or delivery times/locations with less than 24 hours notice may incur an additional transportation fee.

Return Times

There will be a 1-hour grace period with your scheduled return time, after which you may be subject to additional daily rental fees.

Smoking Policy

We have a no-smoking policy for all our rentals. Any violation of this policy will result in a charge of $500.00.

Fuel & Toll Surcharge

An EZ-Pass/ Speed Pass is included in each vehicle.

Vehicles are delivered to you with a full tank of gas and can be returned full, empty, or anywhere in between.

However, when you do gas up, all vehicles must be refueled with Premium grade (93+ octane) gasoline. There is a $350 fee for filling up with a lesser grade.

There is a $75 fee per rental (regardless of duration) to cover the costs of fuel & tolls.

Refunds

We do not offer refunds for vehicle rentals or gift certificates. However, our goal is total satisfaction for our renters, so in certain situations we may offer credit for additional rental days (i.e. really miserable weather). This is solely at our discretion.

In the event of an unforeseen mechanical failure during or prior to a rental, we will make every effort to repair or replace your vehicle with a similar or better model at no additional cost to you.

Driving Area Restrictions

Vehicles may not be driven outside the states of, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire without prior written approval.

Prohibited Uses

The vehicles may not be used:

  • by anyone not licensed to drive or whose Driverís License has been suspended or restricted
  • for any illegal purpose or in connection with any illegal activity
  • to carry persons or property for hire
  • to push or tow anything
  • to exceed any posted speed limits
  • in any speed test, speed contest, race, rally, speed endurance contest, demonstration, or on or near any racetrack or road course
  • to teach anyone to drive
  • on any unpaved surface

In the event of a violation of these Prohibited Uses, we reserve the right to end your rental and retrieve the vehicle.

Tickets

The renter is responsible for all parking, traffic, speeding or other tickets or violations issued while the vehicle is being rented and must pay for any fees, penalties, towing charges, or impound costs.

Mileage

Daily and weekend rentals include 100 miles free per day and weekly rentals include 800 miles free, unless stated otherwise. Each additional mile driven will be subject to a charge at the stated mileage rate.

Vehicles driven more than double the allotted rental mileage will be subject to an additional surcharge to cover excess wear-and-tear.
