The Rolls-Royce Phantom is the first new model from the new Rolls-Royce Motor Cars as a part of the BMW Group. Phantom is a showcase of modern technology, featuring an aluminum space-frame with aluminum panels and composite front fenders, and follows the philosophy of Sir Henry Royce who said: ?Strive for perfection in everything you do.? One of the pioneering marques in the automotive world was created when Englishmen Charles Stewart Rolls and Frederick Henry Royce joined forces in 1904. After taking a trip in a car that ran poorly and proved unreliable, Royce decided he could design a much better car, and did just that.
It was necessary though - because no turbocharger was installed - to rev up to more than 5,300 rpm to gain peak power. Such a level hadn't found acceptance with Rolls-Royce previously and might be one reason for the special 2-phase-exhaust system.
