Eos is a standalone model with all-new body panels, although it shares the platform and components from the Passat. The Volkswagen Eos is a nifty retractable-hardtop convertible that comes with a sunroof for those times you're not in the totally top-down mood. Under-the-hood problems with the much-handled test car took the cool factor down considerably, though.

Eos seats four adults, with a little negotiation between front and back passengers. And if only two are aboard, there's enough legroom for a pair of basketball players. The view from the front row is a handsome one. Volkswagen mixes colors, contours and textures agreeably, and the cabin materials have a quality look and feel.
